Over a thousand people gathered at the Auckland ASB Stadium last Saturday to watch the “Voyage of Faith – A love story” evening performance.
The performance was part of a weekend event that was organised by the Mt Roskill, Panmure and Manakau stakes of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The cultural performance told the story of a young man named Pele who returns home from serving a Latter-day Saint mission and takes on his new mission in life – seeking a wife.
Pele travels across the Pacific Islands taking advice from his mother to “look not on the outward appearance, but look on the heart, therein lies the door to your true love story.”
Sefo Taele, who attended the evening show said: "I’m very proud of the different nationalities that combined to tell a love story, I really enjoyed the values and perspectives.”
Many of the performers were young Latter-day Saints from around the Auckland region who had practiced over many weeks learning dances and songs from their assigned Pacific country.
